How a scholarship works

Scholarships are considered only in exceptional circumstances and are awarded at the discretion of the BCDIS Board as a contribution towards the diploma tuition fees. There is no fixed or advertised award value, and any contribution applies to tuition fees only — it does not cover travel, accommodation, or fees payable to third parties. Eligibility is limited to the three categories below; if your circumstances do not fall within one of them, an application is unlikely to succeed.

Who is eligible

Scholarships are considered under three categories only.

01

NHS Hospital Development Scholarship

For dentists working full-time within an NHS hospital position. Preference is given to those involved in teaching, research or specialist training who wish to develop implant services within the hospital environment. Applicants earning less than £60,000 per annum will be viewed more favourably; evidence of employment and salary may be requested.

02

Overseas Hardship Scholarship

For dentists who have relocated to the UK from countries affected by war, conflict or significant economic hardship. Applicants must have successfully completed the ORE (or hold the appropriate UK registration) and be working full-time within the NHS. Evidence supporting these circumstances will be required.

03

Exceptional Personal Circumstances

For dentists who have experienced significant financial hardship due to serious illness, prolonged absence from work or other exceptional life circumstances that have materially affected their ability to undertake postgraduate education. Supporting evidence will be required.

Timing & availability

There is no published deadline and no set number of awards. Requests are considered alongside applications for each intake, and not all intakes will have scholarship places available. Register your interest below and we’ll tell you where things stand for your intake.

How decisions are made

All scholarship applications are reviewed confidentially by the BCDIS Board. Scholarships are discretionary and take the form of a contribution towards the tuition fees of the EduQual Diploma in Implant Dentistry (SCQF Level 11). The Board’s decision is final, and not all intakes will have scholarship places available. Any contribution applies to tuition fees only, cannot be exchanged for cash and cannot be combined with other discounts or offers. Registering interest here is not an application or an offer — supporting evidence is requested and assessed separately, off this website. Full terms & conditions are available on request.

Register your interest

This is an expression of interest, not a formal application or an award. Tell us which of the three categories applies to you — please don’t include medical information, documents or other sensitive personal details here; supporting evidence is requested separately and reviewed confidentially if you’re shortlisted.
