Do I need to be a qualified dentist to apply?
Yes — our programmes are designed for qualified dentists. Specific entry requirements vary by course; see admissions for details.
How do I apply for the diploma?
Use our application form, which sets out the fees before you register. Full fees and payment plans — including the separate £500 EduQual registration fee — are on the fees & financing page. No payment is ever taken on this website.
When does the next cohort start?
The October 2026 cohort in England is full. Applications are now open for two cohorts: Scotland & North England cohort 1, starting in spring 2027 in Edinburgh (the exact venue will be confirmed closer to the time), and England cohort 5, starting in October 2027 at the Dental Implant Centre Twyford, Reading. You choose your cohort when you apply.
Format & commitment
How is the course structured?
The diploma runs as twelve modules over eighteen months, with modules on Friday–Saturday; the examinations module runs Friday–Sunday. Mornings are formal teaching and case discussion; afternoons are practical workshops, supervised clinical activity or simulation. How much time will I need out of practice?
Modules run Friday–Saturday — one working day out of practice per module. See the module dates on the diploma page.
When do I start placing implants?
Supervised implant placement begins in Module 3, in cases approved through ImplantCheck once your competence has been assessed. Cases depend on patient availability and suitability, so no case type is guaranteed in any module; where no suitable patient is available, the session uses models, pig-head exercises or digital planning instead. How am I assessed?
Practical competence is assessed throughout the programme by DOPS (Direct Observation of Procedural Skills), with evidence built up through assignments, clinical records, literature appraisal and a reflective portfolio. At the examinations module you present your clinical cases and sit an OSCE and viva examinations. Completing the teaching modules does not by itself make you eligible for the award, and same-day results are not guaranteed. See how you are assessed.
What award do I receive?
You are awarded the EduQual Diploma in Implant Dentistry (SCQF Level 11) — a qualification credit rated by EduQual for the Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework. Successful graduates may also use the College postnominal Dip.Imp.Dent(BCDIS). What equipment and workflow will I learn?
CBCT Level 1 and Level 2 training is built into the programme, and implant planning is taught digitally in Blue Sky Plan using CBCT and intra-oral scan data. The syllabus sets out the modules.
What do I need to bring to each module?
A suitable Windows PC laptop with Blue Sky Plan installed and activated, plus its charger — a Mac or tablet is not a substitute; dental loupes and clean clinical scrubs; a mouse with a scroll wheel; and working access to ImplantCheck and the BCDIS e-learning platform. Fees & financing
What are the fees, and are there financing options?
The EduQual Diploma in Implant Dentistry (SCQF Level 11) costs £20,000, payable over 12 monthly instalments of approximately £1,666.67 — the final instalment is adjusted for rounding. No deposit is required.
A separate, one-off £500 EduQual registration fee applies in addition, bringing the total standard cost to £20,500. Your initial payment is £2,166.67: the first instalment plus the registration fee.
The examination and viva are included in the £20,000 course fee, provided the four required cases are submitted by the applicable deadline. If you have not submitted all four and you submit outstanding cases after the examination and viva process has concluded, a £600 late-submission examination fee is payable to EduQual. There are no other additional course, registration or examination fees.

Where is the course held, and how do I get there?
The course is delivered at the Dental Implant Centre Twyford — around 25 minutes from Heathrow by car (M4), with direct trains between Twyford and London Paddington. See "Getting here" on the diploma page.
