Do I need to be a qualified dentist to apply?
Yes — our programmes are designed for qualified dentists. Specific entry requirements vary by course; see admissions for details.
How do I apply for the diploma?
Use our application form. Fees and payment plans are shown on the fees & financing page — no payment is ever taken on this website.
When does the next cohort start?
Module 1 of the next cohort runs 23–24 October 2026 at the Dental Implant Centre Twyford. The full 2026–28 schedule is on the diploma page.
Format & commitment
How is the course structured?
The diploma runs as twelve modules over eighteen months, with modules on Friday–Saturday; the examinations module runs Friday–Sunday. The full 2026–28 schedule is in the course dates on the diploma page.
How much time will I need out of practice?
Modules run Friday–Saturday — one working day out of practice per module. See the module dates on the diploma page.
When do I start placing implants?
There is a live case at Module 2, you place under supervision from Module 3, and you start placing on patients from Module 4. The module-by-module detail is on the diploma page. If you are brand new to implants, our free lecture for general dentists covers the basics first.
How much CPD does the diploma carry?

How am I assessed?
Assessment is through case presentations, OSCE and DOMS assessments and viva examinations at the examinations module (5–7 May 2028), alongside a dissertation and thesis strand. The course dates set out the full module schedule.
What award do I receive?
You are awarded the EduQual Diploma in Implant Dentistry (SCQF Level 11) — a qualification credit rated by EduQual for the Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework. Successful graduates may also use the College postnominal Dip.Imp.Dent(BCDIS). What equipment and workflow will I learn?
The diploma teaches a fully digital implant workflow — CBCT diagnostics, intra-oral scanning and guided surgery throughout. See the key facts on the diploma page.
Fees & scholarships
What are the fees, and are there financing options?
Fees and flexible financing options are set out on the fees & financing page. Payment is never taken on this website.
Are scholarships available?
Yes, in exceptional circumstances only. A scholarship is a discretionary contribution towards the diploma tuition fees, decided case-by-case by the BCDIS Board under three eligibility categories: NHS hospital development, overseas hardship, and exceptional personal circumstances. Check whether you’re likely to qualify and register an expression of interest on the scholarships page.
Venue & travel
Where is the course held, and how do I get there?
The course is delivered at the Dental Implant Centre Twyford — around 25 minutes from Heathrow by car (M4), with direct trains between Twyford and London Paddington. See "Getting here" on the diploma page.
